Our February 2015 Meeting:
Meetings are held at the Erie Yacht Club in Erie PA and begin at 6:00 pm with a social hour and dinner, followed by our program/speaker. Enter from West 6th Street on Kahkwa Blvd, North to Virginia Ave, and turn right on Virginia Ave to the Yacht Club. Tell the attendant you are with the Torch Club.

Our presenter for this evening is Mark Squeglia, a graduate of Gannon College in 1979 with a BA in History, Mark has worked for Hammermill Paper Company, Erie Insurance, Presque Isle Insurance and currently General Electric in the field of Information Technology.

Mark was a member of the Perry 200 Commission and has been a frequent lecturer at the Jefferson Society since 2010.

While Mark's interest is in all periods of History, his main focus and specialty is on Military History, specifically World War II History.

Mark’s lecture will be a review of Colonel John Boyd's personal life, military career, innovative concepts and the lasting impact of his influence which is still being felt in business and the military today.

Colonel Boyd (January 23, 1927 – March 9, 1997) was a colorful and controversial Erie native who was very influential on strategy and tactics impacting the US Military during the 1970's to the 1990's.

Mark Squeglia has been a lifelong resident of Erie, PA. Mark is married to Lynn (Simonellli) and they have 3 sons, Paul, Christopher and Anthony.
