Our April 2015 Meeting:
Meetings are held at the Erie Yacht Club in Erie PA and begin at 6:00 pm with a social hour and dinner, followed by our program/speaker. Enter from West 6th Street on Kahkwa Blvd, North to Virginia Ave, and turn right on Virginia Ave to the Yacht Club. Tell the attendant you are with the Torch Club.

Our Dinner Menu:
Dinner Menu: We will have a two Entrée Buffet, choice of, Chicken Francaise or Grilled Salmon Citrus Beurre Blanc, Twice Baked Potatoes, Fresh Mixed Vegetables, Salad, and Fresh Baked Dinner Rolls with Butter, along with coffee, decaffeinated coffee, tea, milk or iced tea. Our dessert will be Cherry Pie.

Our presenter for this evening is Dr. Baher Ghosheh, a professor at Edinboro University in the Geoscience department since 1989, specializing in Cultural Geography, International Trade, the Middle East and Japan.

He holds a Ph.D. in Economic Development from SUNY- Buffalo.

He has graduate degrees in International Relations/Middle Eastern Studies, International Trade, and Comparative Economic Development.

His honors include: Fulbright Scholar, PA Geographer of the Year, and Educator of the Year.

A native of Jerusalem, Dr. Ghosheh has lived in seven countries and traveled to forty-eight countries, and has taught in Japan, China, Russia, Italy, and Morocco.

He has authored one book and 60+ articles on the Middle East, Asia, and Japan. He was awarded a Fulbright to conduct research in Malaysia and Singapore and was selected as the Pennsylvania Geographer of the Year in 1999 and Edinboro University's Educator of the Year in 2009/2010.

We are honored that Dr. Ghosheh has found time in his busy schedule to give us some insight into the Syrian conflict and how it affects the surrounding countries.
