Our presenter for this evening is Dr. Winston Chu, MD, FACS, a retired plastic surgeon, born in colonial Rangoon, Burma, and grew up in immediate post-independence period when parliamentary democracy reigned.
His idyllic early years were interrupted by the accidental death of his mother and political turmoil following the seizure of power by a socialist-military dictatorship and deterioration of family fortunes.
His immigration to the United States following on his father’s advice and contacts made during World War II in the Burma-India-China Theater.
His struggles and survival in Socialist Burma and in the USA as an immigrant during the 1970s as well as triumph over several life-threatening conditions formed the abyss of his life, also the basis of his book REBORN: Journeys from the Abyss (Tate Publishers).
Dr. Chu is married to Paulette and they have a son Marc.
A book signing will follow the presentation.
I invite you to walk beside Dr. Chu on his inspirational journey. You’ll witness how determination, faith and character turn dreams into reality and overcome life-threatening adversity. The spirit of America thrives in the soul of the naturalized citizen and you’ll find it every step of the way.
